Camp

This is an illustration I whipped out in less than a day for my contemporary art theory class.  We were supposed to make a piece of art about one of the philosophical readings we’d done over the term, and I chose Susan Sontag’s “Notes on Camp.” I was aiming for the quintessential “American Tourist” kitsch stereotype with her yarky little dog and her Elvis handbag.

Despite the crappy background, I feel like this was kind of a breakthrough piece with coloring, which has long been a weak point of mine.  My digital pieces are finally getting where I want them to be.  Yay.

  1. Awesome Ginks… you really captured the American Spirit (I assume that’s what she’s smoking).
